Introduction

The National Writing Project is for Teachers of writing. Value is placed on professional development that has benefits for students and colleagues of participating teachers.

FIRST WRITING RESPONSE: "Horace, Morris And Especially Delores."

If I were to form a club, both boys and girls would be invited. We would all eat chocolate, we would all like the Oakland Raiders, and we would talk about the topics that I decided we would talk about.

Why? I can appreciate a diversity of voices, and so I would encourage all kinds and types of people-- men/women, black/white, athiests/Christians-- anyone who will act civilly abd keep the conversation lively.

FIRST POEM FRAGMENT WRITTEN IN CLASS:

I am the noxious weed,

Soul Killer of child and adult alike,

Collector of the dubious and dreadful

That all the Expresso on Earth won't erase
